Captain Courage was a legend of the oceans. He had, it seems, never known fear.
One day, off the coast of Spain, he had encountered a pirate ship and, preparing for battle, he had asked one of his sailors aloud: "Bring my red shirt to me. ".
Before all the crew, he put on his shirt and, a few hours later, won. Another time, the watchman, perched on his mast, was heard shouting: "Alert, alert, two pirate ships to port, we'll meet them in 25 minutes!"
The Captain reacts immediately: "Let me bring my red shirt!"
And after a bloody fight and a brutal boarding, he celebrated another victory at the head of his men.
This red shirt had become a mystery. One day, the second of the ship ventured to ask Captain Courage, "But why this red shirt, Captain?" The proud officer answered loudly: "If I am wounded during the assault, my men will not notice it and therefore will keep their ardor in combat ..."
And the whole crew applauds.
A few days later, a fleet of pirate ships is reported by the watchman: "Alert, alert! Twelve enemy ships to starboard. We will cross them in 20 minutes!" The Captain shouted immediately to the attention of his second: "Let me bring my brown pants!"
